Child-Parent Center Model

The Child-Parent Center Model engages parents in the education of their children from an early age. It is centered around the core principle that active parental involvement in a child’s education can and will lead to better academic performance and social development immediately and down the line.

This model is the one employed in Chicago after which NJ Pre-K Forward is modeled after. Their program saw significant success as implemented in higher poverty neighborhoods in the city.

If implemented in NJ, it would be best suited for school districts that suffer from lower enrollment to engage parents who have prioritized other methods of care for preschool-aged children.

Regardless of the environment in which it is used, this model has existed since the 1960s and has seen success, and it deserves consideration for any school district.
